Featured!

Our Paint by Number was featured on The Land of Nod blog! Granted it was a year ago but still, The Land of Nod, the kiddo version of Crate & Barrel!  I wish I would have made prints of this paint by number because I daily get convos asking if I have another. Thank you so much to The Land of Nod for featuring us. Camping is our favorite too! You can find the link to the post HERE.
Tis a very good day indeed to find out that a big brand featured you on their blog, this girl boss will take what she can get.  But seriously you should check out their blog, it's super inspiring and not just for decorating a kiddo's room.

Just Be You

Like a peacock your beauty is multiplied when you spread your wings and show your stuff. Don't be afraid to be who you are, each peacock feather is flawed and imperfect but collectively they create something of great beauty. Getting deep Trunk Nation, this was a pretty serendipitous moment caught the other day while picking on a farm. I am finding that the most important thing to remember in this uber competitive vintage business is to just be yourself and keep on shaking your tail feathers. Hope y'all have a great weekend!  Don't forget I will be that the Chicago Outfit Roller Derby on Saturday from 6-10 pm we can shake tail feathers together!

North Shore Flea Wrap Up

Thank you to everyone that came out to the North Shore Flea in Highwood over the weekend.  It was a great time and lots of things found new forever homes which is also stellar!  Up next is The Chicago Outfit Roller Derby on June 21st.  Oh and a HUGE thank you to the man that chased my tent down Green Bay Road when it turned into a sail boat during the huge wind storm.

New Fashion Tab

Heya Trunk Nation!  Been prepping and shooting inventory all morning for an online update.  While I'm not a shop that specializes in vintage clothing or accessories.  I really know next to nothing except the modern designer education I got during my short stint in New York.  But in my personal style I do try to incorporate something vintage in each outfit I put together.  So therefore I come across a "fashion" pieces that catch my eye from time to time when I'm on the hunt so I thought perhaps it was time to start a tab in the ol' shop just in case some of you are into incorporating vintage into your wardrobes.

I like timeless pieces, things that won't go out of style.  I'm not much of a trend chaser, I like simple, comfortable and unique pieces.  There are currently two handbags and a chain mail coin purse hanging out in the fashion tab.  The Whiting and Davis evening bag was hard for me to list as I love their designs but I can't be selfish.  The Eel skin handbag in the middle caught my eye with the natural contrast in the design and that it's so smooth and soft.  The unmarked chain mail coin purse, well it was too sweet just sitting where I found it so I had to adopt it.

Hope y'all are having a fabulous Saturday!

In 90 some days I will be changing from 32 to 33.  I know I know I don't look a day over 26, I'm told that a lot, and I'm going to have to thank my mom and dad for the good skin gene.  Anyway, I started this crazy list stuff the year I was turning 30 and the tradition continues.  I think my favorite part of the list all is the people that step forward to help me accomplish some of my tasks, because that makes the experience mean so much more to me.  So without further ado here are the 32.

2. Eataly
3. Rooftop Bar
4. Jazz Concert
5. Give up sugar for 30 days

Timing Is A Bitch

Yesterday was one of those days, you know the ones where life just overwhelms you? A day when your to-do list is so long but that you decide to just say F- it, grab a huge coffee and head to the dog run for the magic hour.  For those of you non-photogs, the magic hour is the hour right before sunset when everything the light touches looks magical.

Life is overwhelming here lately, I have returned to the full-time work world which was not my intention but  doing this entrepreneur stuff  all alone was getting financially rough and an opportunity arose at a time I needed it most.  I am back to the constant struggle within myself of following and making time for my dreams/passion after punching the clock for the "man".  I'm finally giving you an explanation as to why there hasn't been new inventory added lately to da ol' Etsy shop, why my blog & facebook posts have been so sporadic and why I have been so distant and flakey to those that are close to me. Because there just are not enough hours in the day.

One of the best decisions I have made thus far in my life was the one I made 18 months ago to leave the full-time world and do my own thing. Unfortunately it gave me a taste of what I really really really want and when I felt the most me. But this crazy world of ours will not let me have that just yet, because timing is a bitch. The most rational  answer was that I  clearly just needed to find myself a sugar daddy. But since I believe in working hard to get what you want and don't believe in sugar daddies, the ol' fulltime work world was the lingering legitimate answer.

I apologize to you Trunk Nation that you will not find me popping up so much this summer season, I will not be able to meet for coffee on a Tuesday at 2pm, and that the shop updates will not be as consistent as they were before. But please don't give up on me,  I'm still chasing my crazy entrepreneur  dream, formulating new ideas and in true Jadarie fashion trying to do a million things at once, because that's just how this girl  rolls.

Super T

Hey Friends!  I know a lot of you drop by this space every once and awhile just because of a special bulldog named T.  Well last week was pretty stressful as our little buddy was in the hospital with ivs and the whole she-bang.

Poor T spent four hours in the very early morning throwing up back to back to back. My poor little guy was just laying there between convulsions and looking at me to fix him and I had no idea how.  I waited until his vet opened and the tech told me to get him in the car and get him there asap.  Poor T wouldn't even walk I carried him outside, he stood up to go to the bathroom and laid back down, picked him up and set him in the car and off to the vest we went.

Lots of tests were run, ivs were run and a night in the hospital was had.  Turns out all of his organs are functioning properly and he didn't eat a foreign object.  The vet concluded that he ate something on our walk that night that was not good for him and it was just his system trying to get rid of it.

Just wanted to update those of you that have checked in on him via facebook, instagram and email.  T is offering a special coupon code until May 1st.  Use Coupon Code SUPERT at check out to get 20% off of your purchase. T and I would both appreciate any vintage purchase you make before May 1st.

Lately

Photography is one of my passions, I minored in it in college and upon moving to Chicago took a bunch more classes at Northwestern.  I have so much more to learn and so much practice to do but lately I've been having fun taking my camera out and shooting a few bands, a good friends new baby and playing with light.  Here's a few of the photos I've been working on and digging.

Craziness

Let's take a minute here to reflect on how crazy the internet is.  I mean how crazy awesome the internet is.  Ya ya it can be scary too but whatevs we are talking about it's radness right now.

This girl here, I met her on the internet and then I flew 2,000 miles to meet in person and now she is one of my best friends.

If you were to ask me exactly how I found her blog hundreds of moons ago I couldn't even begin to tell you.  If you asked me what made me type the worlds longest email to her and divulge a ton of personal information because of a post she had written, I would have to say destiny whispered for me to do it.  We met virtually at rock bottom in our personal lives, both of us living a parallel life 2,000 miles apart when we were feeling like we were the only ones going through what we were going through. That was four years ago.  Since then we meet up every year and talk at least once a week if not daily. The moral of the story is destiny is a real thing, the internet is pretty rad and I can't imagine my life without this girl in it.

Any of you have any good internet stories?

Silhouette

This body of mine is less like a temple and more like a biography written by life. It carries lessons learned, experiences, dreams, a broken and re-mended heart, false hopes and cobwebs in it's chapters. All neatly mapped out and bound in between the veins and tendons. A whole evolving history tucked in the spaces between the ribs and collarbone.

Life Lately According To My iPhone

Oh life, wouldn't it be nice if there were 25 or 26 hours in a day?  But then if we had that, it would leave us wanting still more wouldn't it.  I do not have anything exciting to say so I'm just going to share some photos from my phone because I feel like I haven't updated this space in awhile and maybe just maybe some people look at it from time to time.

I have decided to take the month of March off from "popping up" to focus on spending time with family and friends, to nurture the relationships that I sometimes put business in front of and to put myself out there to build on new ones.  My bestie from Portland was in town for a few days so most of these are from our many food and neighborhood explorations.  I've also been playing rock photographer to a band lately and T and I have been trying to enjoy the outdoors and the few days of spring thaw we've had.

Cabin Fever Vendor Profile Featuring: The Collectors Agency & Coffee Planet

Can't believe that Cabin Fever is happening tomorrow! Today's vendor profile is a twofer, just because when ever I think of Paul the owner of The Collectors Agency I automatically think coffee.  Wait until you meet him at Cabin Fever chances are he'll have a cup of joe in his hand.

The Collector's Agency is definitely going to bring the masculinity to Cabin Fever, as you will find a lot of metal objects, cameras and lots of treasures in between. Paul is one of the greatest guys and his knowledge of the rusty object is amazing.  Paul and I have been teaming up at shows lately and he has been my partner in crime at bringing you all Cabin Fever.  Here's a sampling of some of the goods he will have.

The Collector's Agency can be found on the Interwebs:

Facebook  Etsy

And our final vendor profile is the local coffee shop Coffee Planet.  Which will be caffeinating us all on Saturday with coffee and tea pour overs.

" The city coffee shop is now alive in the Chicago suburbs. Started by a family passionate about coffee, Coffee Planet  entertains the coffee connoisseur, supports the local artist, and brings friends and family together.

We are up bright and early to ensure only quality drinks are poured into your cup. We pull every shot of espresso. Our coffee beans were roasted in downtown Chicago, brewed to freshness. We perfect every drink, so it may not be done in a few short seconds. When you take your first sip, however, it will be well worth the wait".

Coffee Planet can be found at  1450 Golf Rd. in Rolling Meadows. As well as on the interwebs:

Cabin Fever Vendor Profile Featuring: Vintage Meet Modern

Today's vendor profile features Vintage Meet Modern, your one stop shop for all things vintage sparkly jewelry.  The first time I meet Veronica the awesome owner of Vintage Meet Modern, she came up to me at a show and said how much she loved my instagram feed or something like that.  I was completely caught off guard but now getting to know her she is one of the sweetest girls with the most amazing knowledge of all things sparkly, and an amazing team player in this vintage seller world.

Veronica carries only quality timeless inventory and if you ask her a question about a certain piece she will give you more then enough information so that you leave with an educated answer for when you get the inevitable question of "Who are you wearing and where did you get that" at your next soirée.

If you are in need for something sparkly for a spring wedding or cocktail party coming up you are going to want to make sure you stop out on Saturday and say Hello to Vintage Meet Modern.

Cabin Fever Vendor Profile- Sugar Cookie Lady Vintage

I met Susan from Sugar Cookie Lady Vintage at one of the many Vintage Garage shows I popped up at.  What struck me with her booth was how organized and aestically pleasing to the eye that it was.  Susan has a great eye for vintage clothing many of her great items she will be bringing with her to Cabin Fever.

"Vintage items are wonderful. As any "vintage lover" relates, I often feel like am known as a bit of an eccentric for my fascination with old junk, but it doesn't bother me. I can remember some of the first items that I fell in love with: when I was about 4 years old, my Grandma Fitzgerald had a black lacquered music box that one of my uncles brought back from a tour of duty. There was a tiny geisha inside that danced to the theme from "Dr Zhivago". I was entranced and even now have that song on my ipod; it stirs something inside me".  From her bio on Etsy.

Susan has informed me that she will be bringing ALOT of vintage cowboy boots and boots in general along with some fabulous canvas tote bags and her amazing vintage clothing.

Thoughtful Gift Guide: Featuring Cabin Fever Vendors

Hey There Trunk Nation! Valentines Day is right around the corner so I thought I'd put together a collage of some of the trinkets from Cabin Fever vendors that would make thoughtful gifts not just for Valentines Day but for any occasion and ofcourse to also treat yourself.

First up is this vintage Diane Von Furstenberg necklace from Vintage Meet Modern.  I first learned for DVF when I lived in New York, let's be honest that's when I learned about all the designers and got a real education from my Manhattan friends.  DVF is one of my favorites and this piece from the 70's is timeless. I love it's simplicity and it's elegance.  Necklace can be found HERE

Ciffon Peach Sheer Babydoll from Sugar Cookie Lady. This could be worn for it's obvious purpose or it would look great with a lacy tank under and leggings or skinny jeans and topped with a leather jacket for a sexy date night.  Babydoll can be found HERE

The winter here in Chicago has been brutal, but with a few more weeks of it left these cozy well made unisex fingerless gloves from Kalknits would brighten anyones day. Perfect for anyone that needs access to fingers but wants to keep the rest of their hand warm. I use mine when photographing things outdoors.  Gloves can be found HERE

The Collectors Agency has this fedora for the dapper fella in your life or you know to keep for yourself.  Hat is made by Towncraft and is made from beaver.  I love the detailing and especially the tiny feather.  Hat can be found HERE

Hummingbird has the most amazing painted furniture. I can see this piece in an entry way of a house with a globe and some family photos on top. They have so much more to offer though take a look at their etsy shop! Table can be found HERE

Well I hope that this sampling has enticed you to come out on Feb. 22nd and see some of these gems in person.  Keep watching next week as I feature each one of the vendors and their treasures.
 Happy Valentines Day!

Thursday With T : Date Night With Mom

Hello Everyone T here.  Haven't been around this space in a while and wanted to pop in and see how everyone is doing, everyone surviving the Polar Vortex as they call it on the news?   Mom and I are trying too but I have been getting a bit stir crazy only going out for a few minutes to do my business each day.  I haven't been on a proper walk since Christmas at Grandpas and I haven't been out of eye sight of my house since January 12th.  Needless to say I think Mom was starting the feel the same way the other night because after dinner she said we were going on a date to get dessert and we ended up at the puppy store!  I freaking love the puppy store, the smells, the new humans to say Hello too and new animals to sniff.  But the number one reason why I love it the most is because the humans that are all dressed alike give me cookies... so many different kinds of cookies!  Here's a few pictures Mom took of our date night.

I can hardly wait to get my sniff on.

First things I sniffed out were the rawhides, don't worry Mom doesn't let me have these. Narrow throat dogs with palate issues like me and my bullie friends can not have these, but they do smell so delicious.

The next spot I sniffed out was the cat adoption area. Oh man, how I want one of these interesting smelling high pitched noise making super furry puppies. The one that I always encounter makes funny noises at me when I walk by his door  and puts his paw out but I never get to play with him.

While I was by the cats I kept hearing the birds like I watch in the tree by my window, so I pulled Mom over there to check it out because I hadn't heard them in so long.

Finally! The holy grail of the puppy store, my beloved Treat Bar! Mom is very lucky that I'm so short and can not reach those cookies without human assistance because I don't know that I could stop eating at just one.  Mom did treat me to a doggie oreo, because after all we did go out for dessert.

How about you friends, how do you get your human to get you out of the house? Where do you go?

Until I smell ya next time!

Oh, It's Still January

Hello and how are you Trunk Nation?  I haven't meant to not blog but I have been in such a funk. January is such a brutal month for me. Every year it's the same thing, weather is in the negative digits, the sun is hardly ever out and when it is the way it hits the earth is not flattering,  I can not put on enough clothes to stay warm, all I want to do it hide out under my down comforter and wait for March because there is still February in Chicago to get through. There are only so many days indoors watching movies and tv show dvds that I can handle.

January and the weather aside, hoping to kick my rear into gear here soon.  I splurged and bought myself the $5 bouquet from Trader Joes to try and help the moody blues.
