My Eat, Shop, Love Day- Milwaukee Edition

Oh Milwaukee, how I love thee and your smell of hops and barley.  I get to see you quite often but not just on a me day crossing places off my list that are not exactly kid friendly when I'm there visiting the bff and nephew.

I had gotten a call from Farm Girl Antiques  to come and check on my things in her shop, so I made a day of it.  I decided to take the back roads and stop at all my favorite places along the way, since I don't ever have very much time to do that.  Along the way I stopped at Antiques on Broadway in Richmond, IL,  several consignment stores outside of Lake Geneva, Clinton Street Antiques in Milwaukee and of course perused Farm Girl while we chatted about vintage goodies.  (Seriously when you're in Milwaukee check it out it's the most ascetically stimulating building inside AND the prices are so totally reasonable.)

By the time I was done shopping and chatting, it was way past time to eat.  On my list of places to stuff my face in Milwaukee was HoneyPie Cafe in the Bayview neighborhood.  They are a locally sourced made from scratch cafe that is down right delicious.  Deer heads on the wall welcomed me and my cheesehead roots felt at home for the afternoon. I had the Burger WI complete with a sunny side egg and a blonde root beer brewed in nearby Cedarburg.  I posted a photo to the gram that I was there and immediately was flooded with comments to check out the bathroom.  As some of you may know I am a sucker for superiorly decorated restrooms, and Honeypie's does not disappoint!  Every single wall was covered in vintage needle points.

After food I decided to take a stroll down  Kinnickinnic Ave. before my drive back to da Chi.  I'm so glad I did because I discovered this great boutique called Sparrow Collective that is a mix of many different and talented independent artists.  I picked up a pair of wooden lotus flower earrings, that are  one of my new favorite go to accessories.  By now it was getting close to the time when traffic was going to be horrendous, so a quick stop at Stone Creek Coffee for a cold brew and it was time to hit the road.

Oh Milwaukee I can not wait to see your beautiful self and smell your grain and hops again in a few weeks.  As always looking for suggestions for any places you think are amazing and that I must see the next time I am in Brew City.  For Information and addresses on each of the places I talked about please click their name in the post.

  1. We were in Milwaukee last Friday. Anna and Jon had their engagement pictures taken by Justine. They had some taken at the museum as well. You can see them if you go to Justine's facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/OCD-Photography/251519838226374
We went down to the 3rd Ward historical district and some thrifts. The pictures took so long and Anna had an appointment with counselor at UWM for next year's schedule. I will have to go to that store next time.
