The Diagnoisis: Wanderlust

I am seriously beginning to think that in a past life I was a gyspy, I don't know how else to explain my lust every couple months to just take off to somewhere new and see amazing things, maybe it's the need for soul searching or just knowing that there are so many beautiful things out there that I just need to see!  I thought maybe looking through and sharing some of my favorite photos from some of my favorite places with you would help... it hasn't, it has made it twice as bad. But enjoy the photographs alot of them are oldies but goodies.

How about you do you ever experience wanderlust?

Afternoon With Grandpa

A few days ago I had it on my to do list to go and check on my booth at the Minocqua Antique Company, so I asked my Grandpa if he wanted to take our usual coffee date on the road, he didn't even think twice before he agreed to a day trip.

McDonald's coffees were in the cup holders and we were on our way to the Northwoods for Grandpa and Granddaughter day.  We decided after doing some manual labor that spending the rest of the afternoon at Wildwood feeding goats, holding skunks, watching fawns chase each other and coming face to face with a giraffe named Tiki would be the perfect way to spend a sunny summer afternoon. It was the sort of day that I wanted to bottle up and keep close to my heart. Here are a few of my favorite photos from our adventure.

Holy Moly, on July 25th Junk in da Trunk Girls Turns 3!!  I can hardly believe how what started out as setting up an Etsy space to start selling off some of my Mom and I's better pieces that we were no longer in love with has turned into my full time job.   Junk in da Trunk Girls is by no means where I am working for it to be but it's so much closer then it was this time last year. I'm still constantly working towards and tweaking where I think and want it can be.

What started off as just a mother and daughter adventure has turned into so much more than I ever expected that there are just not enough words to say how grateful I am for the past 3 years of schlepping the Junk into all of it's new Trunks!  Thank you so much to my family, my group of super supportive friends and all of you that take the time to read my babbles, take home a handmade piece of my heart or a vintage treasure that touched your soul.

At this time I would like to offer all of you my loyal readers and customers 20% off as a THANK YOU for helping turn Junk in da Trunk into what it is and helping shape it into what it's becoming.  Please use coupon code ANNIVERSARY at checkout in the SHOP.  The sale will begin today and run through July 26th.  Please feel free to share this great coupon code with your friends!

Thank You so much to each and everyone of you and here's to another year of putting the Junk in da Trunk & Happy Shopping!

Black Tie Minus the Tie 4th of July

Number 10 on the 31 Before 32 List is visit The Ledge of the Sears/Willis Tower at Night and Number 29 on the list is wear high heels, what better way to knock out two birds with one stone then combine these two on the 4th of July and call it black tie minus the tie 4th of July.  Great idea right... well here goes the story.

I have never ever worn high heels before, honest to blog, I'm tall to begin with and have never really had the need to wear them, but one day I was thrifting and found a brand spanking new pair of Michael Kors black high heels in my size for $15.00! I couldn't leave those gems behind so there they sat in a box in my closet waiting for the right time to be worn.

My list is hanging on my fridge and one night it came up in conversation about going to the Ledge and it also came about that a night with nothing really going on just so happened to be the 4th of July.  The suggestion of getting all fancified was brought about and the next thing I knew plans were made, Fast Passes to skip the line were bought and soon I was through security, on the express elevator to the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower on a super clear night to step out onto the Ledge in my heels, just in time to watch all of Chicago and it's suburbs light off their fireworks!

Seriously it was the most amazing and memorable 4th of July I've had, I thought nothing would be able to beat the fireworks I saw in San Francisco sitting on a hill looking at them straight on, set to symphony music but those were beaten out in three minutes time. There were so many fireworks being blown off that I had no idea where to focus my attention. I just kept looking out all different directions and every where I looked was filled with fireworks, it was breathtaking.

Going to the top of Sears Tower or the Hancock on the 4th of July is something that I hope to try and do again someday as it put the 4th of July in an entirely new perspective. And alas I don't think that I will be wearing high heels again anytime soon as those little beauties destroyed the tops of my toes. The Kors however are safely put back in their box and awaiting another adventure perhaps just one that is going from the car to the door someplace.

How about you where is the coolest place you've seen fireworks?

Fill in the Blank Friday

Haven't done this in a while so let's play a round of Fill in the Blank Friday... most of the blanks were curated from friends on Facebook....

1. If money wasn’t an issue, the first thing I’d cross of my life list is spending a year traveling all over the world seeing all the places on my bucket list, then coming back to the states to open a brick and mortar.

2. Mustard with my French Fries, Tapiacoa in my smoothies, Drinks with no ice, Cowboy Boots, Walks in the Rain and Old School Country music are things I like that other people think are weird.

3. If my life were a movie right now, the title would be “Shenighans of a Transplanted Small Town Girl"

4. Three things I am looking forward to this month are all the shows I've been booking, New Kids on the Block Concert, and Coffee Date with my Grandpa.

5. My favorite song to sing in the shower is I am by no means a singer, so this doesn't apply to me

6. If I found out that the production of Coca-Cola, Kodak Film or MACs coffee eyeliner was ending this month, I’d go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.

7. One thing I’ll never grow tired of is going back home once a month, it may put a damper on things I want to accomplish but I need that time to recharge the battery and to take a step back from the big city and ground me to keep things in perspective.  I've learned this year that life is short & I want all the coffee dates and chats I can get with my Grandpa before that's not an option any more.

How about you any blanks you want to fill in? If you are in Northern Illinois this weekend come see us on Saturday at the Mix N Mingle.

It's July and I'm Singing Christmas Carols

Happy July Everyone!  I  C A N N O T  believe that it is actually July!!! July 1st just so happens to be the day that Holiday show registration officially begins!  T and I stayed up until mid-night to sign up for one show and woke up for 6 am registration for another, all while singing "Deck the Halls".  I realize this makes me sound crazy but what can I say such is the life of an entrepreanur, trade in a 40 hour work week for a 100+ hour one can make you sing Christmas Songs in July.

This month is another full schedule for ye ol' Junk in da Trunk Girls here's the DL on where we will be selling our goods this month:

10 am - 4 pm  Madison, WI

July 27 & 28 10 am - 5 pm Both Days

Hope to see you guys out & about!
